Our Evenings

Unless otherwise stated, evenings are Thursdays between 8pm and 10pm. We have access to the hall from 7.45 pm.

The Wildlife of Romney Marsh

Presented by Brian Harper

Brian, local photographer and naturalist, has visited us on a number of occasions and always surprises us with his photos of the brilliant birds and wildlife that are right on our doorstep.
Tonight we shall see a new series of digital images.

Technical Workshop

• Print mounting demonstration for those that want to know how to cut out mounts for competitions.
• See how to size and title your digital images to be correct for entry into competitions.
• Bring your camera along PLUS your manual and we will give advice on how to operate it.

A welcome return to John Wylie, an excellent tutor with some great lighting tips and set-ups. He usually has some cheaper ideas on lighting in a studio or an indoors situation as well.

Enter up to 4 A4 prints taken at the Kent Wildlife Romney Marsh Visitor Centre in New Romney. Entries to be judged by Liz Grant, the warden, at the centre at 2.30pm for a club trophy.

Christmas Social & Buffet plus
Club Project & Christmas Cards Competition

A social evening including a buffet, probably a quiz and the judging of the Club Project (see COMPETITION INFO for this year’s topic) and Christmas Cards.
It would be much appreciated if you could bring along some food and drink.
Enter up to 2 digital Club Project images and up to 2 folded, printed Christmas Cards. You can print either just the front of the card or the inside as well.

Creative controls on digital cameras

A run through some of the basics of camera controls such as apertures, shutter speeds, ISOs and what they can do for you.
Then a dig around in the menu systems to show some interesting bits that are often buried in today’s technical wonders.

An evening to choose what digital images and prints we will be showing in the competition against Reflex PC on the 21st March.
Email digital images by the 7th March at the latest, and bring in your print entries on the 7th March or tonight.

Return Battle: RMPC v Reflex Photographic Club

A warm welcome to Reflex Photographic Club.
Last year, some of our members spent a very enjoyable evening in Gillingham to watch our images compete against Reflex’s and this year we host the return battle.
The competition will consist of club prints and digital images pre-selected on the Selection Evening.
